Apple’s iPod Classic really is a classic!
The newiPod Classic from Apple has been fully redesigned and features either 80 or 160 gigabytes of internal storage. So much storage that you have really got to be a mega user to need so much space.
Whether it’s videos, images or just a huge music library you now have plenty of room for everything.
The iPod Classic is a great looking unit and easily fits in the palm of your hand. It is strong because of the all metal casing and really slim. Take it anywhere for a wide range of extended media on the move.
Music Controls
The classic has the usual multi-function ipod Click Wheel which enables you to adjust the volume, select and play music and browse your songs using Cover Flow which displays music by album cover and track list.
You can also explore your songs using the Music Menu to select music by album, artist, individual song, personal playlist, music genre, song composer and much more. You can even shuffle your selection to get music played back in a random order.
Video, Movies and TV
Video playback on the 2.5 inch screen is bright and clear so you can watch your favorite videos and movies in vibrant color. Just buy or rent movies from the iTunes Store online and watch them at any time anywhere you want.
If you are on a long journey you will really appreciate the 7 hours playback time and also the fact that the brightness of the display can be easily adjusted.
The iTunes store can also provide you with many episodes of all the top TV shows. You can even get recent episodes the same day if you don’t find time to watch them on TV or buy the whole series once it is over.
Photographic Images
The click wheel lets you scroll through your photo connection looking at the thumbnails and it is easy to view a full photo by just clicking on the center button or view photos as a slide show including music and special transitional effects if you ant them. And you can of course view your photos on a TV with an AV cable connection.
Audio Books
Today audio books are becoming more and more popular and the itunes store is fully geared up to help you. You can select from literally thousand of different audiobooks, including top sellers like Harry Potter, and listen to as much of an audiobook as you can at any one time and come back to finish it later. Your ipod won’t forget where you were and will let you change the speed if it is going too fast for you.

Free Podcast Downloads
You can now get thousands of both audio and video podcast from the iTunes Store for free! These include top indie podcasts and many form the big companies such as ESPN, ABC News, PBS, Comedy Central and NPR. Just browse, select and subscribe to get access to what you want then synch them to your ipod. Note that it is easy to playback a video podcast on a TV (with optional cable), to get that big screen effect.
Other Features
You also get access to your contact list, a calendar facility, clock and stopwatch in the Extras menu as well as other functions such as the screen lock option which lets you choose a four digit code to protect your iPod
Technical Stuff
The iPod Classic can be connected to a PC or Mac through a USB port by using a docking connector.
A slow charge can be completed in about 4 hours and a fast charge will get you to 80% of total capacity in about half that time.
Audio Formats are AAC, Protected AAC from iTunes, MP3 MP3 VBR, Audible (2+3+4), Apple Lossless, WAV and AIFF.
Image Formats are JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD for Mac and PNG.
